TRANSITIONING SERVICE MEMBERS

The two-day Accessing Higher Education (AHE) workshop is for those pursuing higher education. It assists Service members in identifying the education requirements that support their personal goals. This workshop focuses on topics such as how to achieve academic success, how to research and compare institutions, and how to finance higher education. After completing the Accessing Higher Education workshop, service members will be prepared to complete an application to an accredited institution, schedule a session with a counselor from an academic institution, or meet individually with education counselors, as needed.

CDC Testing: Tuesdays at 8am and 11:10am, except 2nd Tuesday.

CDC Testing is scheduled by Unit Training Managers (UTMs). If you need to test, see your UTM.

TUITION ASSISTANCE

Before registering with any college or university, check the actual course costs before committing. Air Force tuition assistance will only cover the actual tuition costs up to $250 per semester hour or $166.66 per quarter hour. Fees such as parking, lab, technology, etc. cannot be paid with AF tuition assistance funds. Some schools charge hefty fees to attend and those fees will be billed to the student. Call us for more information on tuition assistance policies and/or education counseling.

WAPS TESTING

WAPS Testing dates will be sent to each WAPS monitor. Please check with your unit WAPS monitor if you have questions about testing. 

DSST AND CLEP TESTING

The National Test Center is closed until further notice. Email your requests to macdill@saintleo.edu

Saint Leo University is the National Test Center for all CLEP/DSST testing. To schedule an exam, please email the Test Administrator, macdill@saintleo.edu with your name, exam title, and preferred test date and time, at least 7 days in advance. Public Speaking is limited to only two test candidates per test session.

Testing will be conducted on Wednesdays at 9:30 am.

All CLEP tests require registration at clep.collegeboard.org/register/exam.

All DSST tests require registration at getcollegecredit.com.

Register as a user, update your profile to show your military status, then register for the test you wish to take.

You must bring your ID card and DSST username/password or CLEP Exam Registration Ticket on test day.

The TFOT application process is now virtual!

Airmen must apply for the TFOT commissioning program through the Air Force Portal page managed by AFRS. Active duty members applying for a commission through the TFOT Program, please review your eligibility status and, if eligible, submit your application through Sharepoint at http://tinyurl.com/hddqpkr

Air Force Aid Society's General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant Application

This grant application is now available for the 2021-2022 academic year. This program awards grants ranging from $500 to $4,000 based on financial need.

Eligibility for this program includes dependent children of Air Force members

  • Currently on Active Duty (including Title 10 Reservists & Title 32 Guard) through 1 December 2021
  • Retired (receiving Retired pay from the Air Force)
  • Deceased

Eligible Spouses of Air Force members

  • Currently on Active Duty (including Title 10) through 1 December 2021
  • Surviving spouses of active or retired members

All applicants must be enrolled as full-time undergraduates at an accredited college or university during the 2021-2022 academic year and are required to maintain a minimum 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA).

Applying for the Arnold Education Grant online application opens the door to two additional programs:

  • Merit Scholarship - incoming freshmen with verified 4.0 GPAs identified through the Arnold Education Grant application are contacted directly in the Spring by AFAS to compete for these $5,000 merit-based scholarships. A minimum of 10 scholarships are awarded annually.
  • Supplemental Loan Program - provides interest-free loans to sponsoring members of eligible students identified through the Arnold Education Grant application of up to $1,000 per eligible student to help reimburse out-of-pocket education expenses.
