Base Education & Training Center Renovations

The Base Education Center, Building 252, is currently undergoing extensive renovations to create an improved space for education, training, and professional development. Once completed, the upgraded facility will house the Base Education & Training Offices, Base Library, Airmen Leadership School, and Professional Development Center, providing enhanced services and resources for our community.

As we embark on this journey, we want to ensure transparency and provide clarity on how these changes will impact our current offerings:

Transition of Classroom Space: Please note that classroom space for meetings and trainings will no longer be available through the Base Education Center.

Temporary Conversion of On-base Classes to Virtual Campuses: On-base, in-person classes offered in collaboration with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Hillsborough Community College, and Saint Leo University have transitioned to virtual campuses, ensuring uninterrupted access to education opportunities during the renovation.

Temporary Relocation of Base Education & Training Offices: On-site offices for Base Education & Training have relocated to the Base Library, Bldg. 252, Computer Lab.

Temporary Relocation of On-Base School Offices: On-site offices for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, Hillsborough Community College, and Saint Leo University have relocated to the Base Library, Bldg. 252, Game Room. Please stop by to visit with your school representative or access links below for the latest school information.

Termination of on-site Army Education Services: Army Education Counseling Services are no longer offered at MacDill AFB. All Soldiers in need of Education Counseling must contact Fort Stewart Education Office at usarmy.stewart.usag.list.dhr-education-counselor-FS@army.mil or 571-801-8606.

Temporary Relocation of CDC/DLPT/AFCT Testing Services: Until completion of renovation, all CDC, DLPT, and AFCT Testing has temporarily relocated to the WAPS Testing Annex, Base Education Center, Bldg 252.

Temporary Suspension of CLEP/DSST Testing Services: On-site CLEP and DSST Testing services are suspended until the completion of the renovation project. Remote Testing is available.

Temporary Suspension of In-person Briefs: In-person Briefs may be suspended, as necessary, until the completion of the renovation project. Visit the Air Force Virtual Education Center (AFVEC), Ed Center News for information on upcoming briefings.

Transitioning Service Members

The two-day Accessing Higher Education (AHE) workshop is for those pursuing higher education. It assists Service members in identifying the education requirements that support their personal goals. This workshop focuses on topics such as how to achieve academic success, how to research and compare institutions, and how to finance higher education. After completing the Accessing Higher Education workshop, service members will be prepared to complete an application to an accredited institution, schedule a session with a counselor from an academic institution, or meet individually with education counselors, as needed.

Tuition Assistance

Before registering with any college or university, check the actual course costs before committing. Air Force tuition assistance will only cover the actual tuition costs up to $250 per semester hour or $166.66 per quarter hour. Fees such as parking, lab, technology, etc. cannot be paid with AF tuition assistance funds. Some schools charge hefty fees to attend and those fees will be billed to the student. Call us for more information on tuition assistance policies and/or education counseling.

CLEP and DSST Testing

Remote Proctoring: CLEP and DSST now offer the convenience of taking exams from home with remote proctoring. This ensures the same high-quality testing experience with the added flexibility of testing from your preferred location.

  • Local Test Centers: You can also schedule your exam at a CLEP or Prometric (DSST) exam center near you, providing convenient access to testing facilities.

Remember, DANTES will fund the first attempt at an exam for military members. Simply select “DANTES Funded” during the registration process to take advantage of this opportunity.
