Get “fast access” to your fitness goals by stopping by the Short Fitness Center customer service desk to register. As part of our enhanced customer experience, Short Fitness Center offers 24/7 access. Because this is a new system, it requires everyone, to include existing users, to register.

*ALL CAC HOLDERS WILL NEED TO BRING THEIR CAC TO REGISTER. NOT A CAC HOLDER? NO PROBLEM! WE WILL ISSUE YOU A PROXIMITY CARD FOR USER ACCESS.

*NOTE: All previous NON-CAC users will need to bring their issued proximity card to register in the new system.

**The 24/7 access door is only available during unmanned hours. Please use the main entrance during regular staffed hours.** 

Short Fitness Center

Fitness is the name of the game and our Fitness Center is definitely a winner in this category. We provide optimum opportunities for participation in all levels of competition for military, DoD civilians, retirees and family members.

Offered year-round is an active and diversified program that strives to meet the mental & physical needs of all participants. Those associated with the military, whether active duty, retired, family members, DoD or contract employees, all take advantage of the recreational activities available at MacDill’s Fitness Center.

The ¼ mile track and 4-mile jogging path are big hits with runners, joggers & walkers. Active duty personnel can also volunteer to represent their organizations or units on the Base Athletic Advisory Council.

Personal Trainers are available by appointment only. They will evaluate your personal health history and design an individualized training program, to include instruction on weight loss, strength training and proper conditioning.

Field Reservations

Using a CAC enabled computer, follow the link below to request reservations at various Short Fitness Center locations:

  • Gym 1 & 2 (half court)
  • Racquetball Court 1 & 2
  • Group Exercise
  • Pavilion
  • North Track 1 & 2 (1/2 field with turf)
  • South Track (1/2 field)
  • Open Field
  • Softball Field

All reservations must be placed a minimum of 48 hours in advance. Read the reservation policy thoroughly before placing a reservation. If you have any questions or concerns please call the fitness center directly.

Parent Child Area

Parents accompanied by children have FIRST Priority at all times.

  • When the PCA is unoccupied, other patrons may use the space.However, they must vacate immediately if a parent arrives with a child. 
  • Parents/legal guardians are responsible for the direct supervision of their own children and must always remain in the parent child area with their children.
  • Food, drinks, or bottles are not allowed in the play area.
  • Children 12 years and under may use the PCA.
  • Infants are allowed in strollers, next to their parent, while in the PCA only.All other children must remain in the play area.
  • Individuals displaying the following symptoms are restricted from using the PCA:  vomiting, diarrhea, fever, cough, runny nose, eye discharge.
  • If a child must use the restroom, the parent/legal guardian will accompany the child to and from the family restroom located in the lobby area.
  • Toys and play materials must be provided by parents/legal guardians and must be removed from the area when the child leaves.
  • In case of a fire alarm, parents will gather their children and follow the exit signsoutside the building immediately.
  • Children must be fully dressed (to include shoes) at all times, when using the PCA.
  • The parents/legal guardians of unruly children will be asked to leave the facility.
  • Parents/legal guardians must clean, sanitize,and organize the play area before leaving.
  • Parent/legal guardians, or children, who violate play area policies andprocedures may be denied future use of the PCA.
  • The PCA is available for use during manned hours only.
