Starting TAP

Congressional policy requires all service members start TAP NLT 365 days prior to the anticipated separation date.

  • Guard/Reservists: Coming off AD orders (T10) of 180 days or more are required to complete TAP
  • MEB: Start TAP as soon as being placed in MEB status
  • Reenlisting: The original ETS must still be used to determine when to start TAP. The intent to reenlist does not exempt from starting TAP within 365 days prior to ETS.
  • Wounded, Ill, or Injured: Work through your Recovery Care Coordinator (RCC) or contact us directly.
